My Story

My story begins on a little island alongside the Texas Coast - you guessed it - Port Aransas. My father's side of my family - The Barrs - moved to Port Aransas long ago when the town was considered 'a sleepy fishing village'. My Great-Grandparents J.C & Wanda Barr were core members of the town's development in both Real Estate, and Tourism. In fact they were the First to develop a Resort Condominium Project on the Texas Coast - WOW! They had to lobby the legislature for the airspace to build above a 1 story condominium. Their focus was primarily developing Real Estate Condominiums in Port Aransas, and later purchasing condominiums in Rockport-Fulton. My Great-Grandfather, J.C. Barr was actually mayor of Port Aransas for a number of years. He helped to increase Tourism, and development of the Sand Dunes on the beach to help protect the Island. One of his last accomplishments as mayor was to establish Robert's Point Park (the main park in Port Aransas). In fact the road that leads to the park is still named after him today. Their mission was to put Port Aransas on the map, and transform the 'sleepy fishing village' into a thriving community fueled by Tourism, and Real Estate Investment. I'm proud to say that looking over the Island today - they have achieved just that. Their son Jimmy Barr & my father Veril Barr helped manifest this mission by physically building multiple Condominiums here on the Island.

My Mother's side of my family - The Crawfords - have quite a history in Port Aransas as well. My Grandfather, Charles Crawford is one of the founding members of what is today called 'CCMS Resorts' - Condominium Consulting & Management Services. CCMS was founded in 1984 & has grown to manage over $200 million in property value. My Uncle, Chuck Crawford is currently Vice President of the Company, and intends to lead the company in the future. He is also a member of the Port Aransas City Council. My Mother, Barbie Barr is an accounting representative with the Company. As a child I remember my mother bringing me to the office after school to complete my homework - she was always so meticulous - while frustrating at the time, I am extremely grateful for those moments today.

Where does all of this lead? - I say all this to allow you to connect with me, and to paint a picture of why I chose Real Esate as my profession - which bring us to my story.

Growing up in a small town can be hard if you don't know anyone, but it can be harder if you know everyone. For example in a big city you can sneeze and nobody would notice, but in a small town you sneeze and everyone hears, sees, and knows it was you. I use that anology not in a literal sense, but to demonstrate the connectedness of the Island. As a child I slowly became aware of my Family's history on the island and was therefore motivated to accomplish great things. In High School I graduated in the top 15% of my class, and recieved multiple awards including Athlete of the Year my Senior Year. This award was earned by being a state competitor in Cross Country & Track. I was also blessed to have received multple Scholarships from Organizations including: Port Aransas Alumni Association, Presbyterian Women, Marlin Athletic Booster Club, Jim Edmonson Memorial Scholarship, Port Aransas Boatman Association, among others. I highlight these events so you can understand how deep of a gratitude I hold for the Port Aransas Community.

Upon graduating I transitioned to the University of Texas San Antonio campus & enrolled in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Program. My mission was to become a Pilot & Officer in the United States Air Force. I set out on this journey, and had great success - my Sophomore year I received The Commander's Scholarship which covered my remaining Tuition until I graduated. My Junior year I was a Flight Commander - directly responsible for growing, mentoring, and developing 25 Freshman Cadets. My 2nd semester of my Junior Year I was promoted to a Squadron Commander - directly responsible for now 75 Freshman Cadets. In association with these responsibilities, I was also the President of a service based society - Arnold Air Society - in which we served the San Antonio Community. My team & I also fundraised over $5,000 dollars in order to assist 20 members traveling expenses to our Annual National Convention - NATCON - in New Orleans. My Senior Year I was awarded my Pilot Slot & was promoted again to a Group Commander. I was on fire, and was accomplishing all of my goals & dreams until I recieved a phone call.

One phone call is all it took to take all the success & momentum I had created over the past 4 years and burn it up in smoke. I will refrain from going into details, but through a personal decision I was given no choice but to separate from the Air Force, pay back the scholarship I was awarded, and revoke the career I thought was at my fingertips. I was devastated to say the least.  I decided to move back home and reflect on what had taken place. I reflected on the situation and concluded that I am going to use this experience to become someone even more. I am going to use this experience as a catalyst for exponential change. Fast forward 1 year, and here we are.

I have decided to follow in my families footsteps, and expand on what they have created. From my Father's side of development, to my Mother's side of management, to me - now responsible for guiding you as you find your home here in Port Aransas & the greater Coastal Bend. I hope you can see how deeply personal this profession is to me, and how seriously I take the responsibility. My mission is to be of the highest caliber of service for you, and to grow & expand Port Aransas while protecting the things that make this place very special. This is my home, all I ask is for you to allow me to guide you home.

Being the youngest Realtor in town brings with it some adversity. . . However I must say I do love the challenge, and use my age as my competitive advantage. I'm not afraid to shake things up, and try different methods. I'm sure this is perceivable through my website which is Modern, Comprehensive, and Professional

Some of my unique hobbies include:
1. Flying Planes (yes that photo on the main page is one I took)
2. Surfing the Island waves of Port A
3. Playing Piano in my spare time
4. Calisthenics / Cardio
